She was only 7 years 9 months old...and her death was really unexpected..
She started out having some problems last weekend..she was sneezing out droplets of blood and we then brought her to a vet in Serangoon North. The vet diagnosed it as a cut in her nose and she has a infected throat. So he gave her an injection and antibiotics, anti-inflammatory syrup and cough mixture.
Few days later on Tuesday, Lola seemed a bit stiff. She couldn't lower her head and she looked blur and confused. We then brought her to the same vet and she was given another injection for a sprained neck and a bottle of painkillers. We then brought her home to rest.
On Friday, she started to squeak when she walked and then arched her back while walking. She then began to rest at places she wouldn't usually go to..I thought she could had sprained her back or legs again so fed her the painkiller and let her rest..
The next morning, she couldn't stand up... :( but she kept trying and falling over to her left side. I was so upset that I brought her to a vet in Telok Kurau.
The vet said that she had a lump on her nose (which the initial vet didn't notice) and that she could had suffered a slip disc or in the worse case, the lump could be an infection that is starting to affect her brain. He said to bring her home and monitor her. Let her rest and don't let her move about. So I brought her home and reduced her walking area..
The next day on Sunday, she was still the same. For 3 days, she had not eaten or drank much water. So I fed her water from the syringe, which she lapped up while lying down. I was quite worried but I let her rest...thinking that she would be better after some more rest..
On Monday, Lola started coughing badly with a honking noise. She spat out and coughed out thick yellowish liquid, especially after drinking water through the syringe...I hurriedly brought her to the vet and though I was promised immediate attention over the phone, I was made to wait 15-20 min till I couldn't take it anymore and requested that the nurse take a look at her.
The nurse heard her coughing badly and then took her in to take her temperature. She said there was no fever. At this time, the doctor came out and checked Lola. He said her condition worsened and he would hospitalise her immediately. He ordered a blood test and a drip and told me to wait outside and make a deposit.
So I went outside to deposit $105 to the clinic and since I couldn't do much, went home.
When I reached home, within 10 minutes, the clinic called us and informed us that Lola has passed away...we were all deeply shocked and shattered..
We didn't expect her condition to worsen till she lost her life...I was the most deeply affected because I brought her to the vet, hoping that I could bring her home in a few days time or so, with her being healthy and happy again...licking my face, letting me pat her while she lies next to my legs...
I was so heartbroken..I cried the whole afternoon and night.. If only I was more alert to her problems when she was squeaking...if only I insisted to the vet that he do an xray or a blood test...if only she got warded earlier instead of the last minute...if only I spent more time with her...she may not have left us...
The next day, my whole family went to see her for the last time...she looked so tired, wrapped in a towel..all of us cried when we saw her and said our last goodbyes...
I feel so lost without her now...everyday, everything and everywhere reminds me of her...how she sleeps in the oddest of places, how she barks at all the strangers...how she greets us in the morning...how she plays with her toys with us...how she likes to climb on to us while we're on the couch....how she steals my socks and runs away with a playful glint in her eye...how she runs and skips while she's playing with us...how she looks to us for comfort when there's a thunderstorm...how she licks my face and looks at me with the dearest and cutest of eyes...
I feel so sad...its indescribable pain...I just can't believe she is gone like that...within 3 days of seeing the vet, and with the vet saying she just needs to rest...she's gone...
Forever...
