I never knew fengshui was so interesting! Some geomancers said the three buildings look like ancestral tablets, so its not going to be good for Singapore. Then the rooftop gardens (anyone wondered what would happen if there was a thunderstorm?) signify a drowning building and the roof represents a blade's edge that's going to slice other buildings to pieces (or something like that)!!
Then the rebuttal came from the designers' geomancer who said the three buildings represent three ancient type of chinese warriors with flowing armour (based on the curved building shapes) and the rooftop gardens represent a mountain top and the roof itself signifying a scholars cap and improving the knowledgeability of Singaporeans...
Wah piang...(in Singapore English)
Oh gosh... (in England English)
Come on! (in US English)
Bugger! (in Oz English)
-Type in your own phrase- (in your own language)
Interesting eh!! So what's the story now? After those buildings are built, we are going to have three warriors who looks like ancestral tombs wearing scholarly caps that have edges of swords and who are drowning under a mountain top.
Fantastic!
Hmm...let's see. Geomancy involves one person (or a selected few) having a vivid imagination and affecting the whole of Singapore's luck and the business operations of the super-big-newest-cash-cow that is going to open in another few years time with his intepretation of what the structures look like, then why not design the buildings with the DOLLAR $$$ sign? There'll be no mistake man! Imagine three big buildings looking like this
$ $ $
with the top capped with..er...a diamond pyramid like the Louvre in Paris and maybe some nice big 福 hanging upside down on each wall, I'm sure it'll be easy to intepret and everyone will be happy!
Except its going to look damn ugly lah.
What if someone (like me) comes along and says the Three Buildings look like Expensive Gold Pendants that curves at the bottom to represent the insertion of Diamonds, that the rooftop gardens represents the Green Heavens Of Above speckled with Pathways Of Luck And Fortune, and that the roof itself shows that the buildings have The Roof Of Heaven which will always ensure that the buildings and Singapore will always be protected from evil...(and so on and so on...) Would everyone listen in awe and agree with me? Hmm...
Sometimes I feel that Man has created too many false images and impressions on the common people. Whether is it true or not, it does not help to have expert Doctor Feng saying my country is going to suffer due to the giant tombs while expert Doctor Shui says my country is going to be guarded by three new warriors. If it makes everyone feel good, then by all means, do whatever you want. If you can persuade anyone that black is white, then so be it. Whoever is blind enough to listen is deserving of that belief anyway.
I'm not condeming fengshui or geomancy. Just that sometimes, it doesn't make sense. Agree?
